Process optimization and flexibility

Tessitura Nesi Fausto & Nesi Silvano is a weaving mill founded by two brothers who started to produce fabrics, including shirting fabrics, upholstery fabrics, clothing materials, technical fabrics and more, in 1977 before developing their business in the 1980s by investing in new machinery and moving their company to its current location in Montale, Tuscany. With over 40 of experience in the industry, the Nesi brothers’ company has a strong know-how carried today by the second generation of the family who is running the business nowadays.

The challenge

The main challenge of the weaving mill Tessitura Nesi Fausto & Nesi Silvano is to respond to customer requirements immediately. To ensure high flexibility style changes need to be optimized. Additionally and due to the variety of materials and applications, it is critical to meet high quality standards in the steps before weaving, especially in warp beam preparation. Handling many application types, the mill requires great flexibility in processing a wide range of yarns: unbleached or yarn-dyed (mainly medium-fine for apparel fabrics), both plain and colored, and, due to the latest trends, fancy yarns of varying thickness.

Customer benefits

  • Flexibility to respond customers’ demands
  • Spare parts available many years after purchase
  • Upgradable machines offering a wide range of use

The solution

Tessitura Nesi Fausto & Nesi Silvano invested in a Stäubli SAFIR S60 automatic drawing-in machine equipped with Active Warp Control (AWC) technology. Optional AWC features for warps with 1:1 or without lease, like repeat detection or the ultimate yarn sorting feature for warps without a lease, allow automatic processing of the harness. This AWC state-of-the-art technology is unique to Stäubli.

The machine reliably draws even fancy yarns into all elements necessary to constitute a complete weaving harness ready for the weaving machine, namely the reed, drop wires and healds .

The required flexibility in the mill of Tessitura Nesi Fausto & Nesi Silvano has been achieved because the owners are passionate about meeting challenges. Over the years, they have adapted their operations to suit the market and steadily modernized their mills by investing in latest technologies.
