PTD Success Story

Nationwide Connector Compatibility Solved

The Czech Republic's fire and rescue services rely on the easy-to-use Stäubli 16BL connectors for emergency power and unexpected outages across the country, saving critical time in the event of an emergency.

In the Czech government document “Concept for the Protection of the Population until 2020 with a View to 2030”, large-scale power outages were assessed as a possible threat to the Czech Republic. It is therefore essential for the authorities to increase the energy resilience of the Czech Republic and to be as prepared as possible for power blackouts, unexpected outages and other possible threats causing disruption of the power supply.

To ensure rapid restoration of power, the Fire and Rescue Service deploys Zeppelin mobile emergency containers. Equipped with a variety of different connection solutions, they contain everything needed to bridge power outages. It is important for the fire and rescue service, that the connection solution is as simple as possible, so it can be used by personnel without electrical engineering knowledge.

For safe and fast connection to external buildings, the fire departments decided to use Stäubli’s 16BL high current single-pole industrial connectors for multiple reasons. The system is designed to meet the demanding requirements of power supply applications and pays particular attention to safety and ease of use. Thanks to mechanical and visual coding, no special know-how is needed to work with 16BL connectors. The connectors are so easy to use that the Czech Fire and Rescue Service decided to standardize the system nationwide to increase interchangeability and make operations more effective with the user-friendly connectors.
