As a market leading manufacturer of diesel, gas, and bio-gas generator solutions, Teksan’s production processes are diverse and include sheet metal punching, laser cutting, bending, welding, and grinding. As for any manufacturer operating in today’s highly competitive marketplace, investing in automation is essential if the quality and productivity levels needed to fulfil customer expectations are to be achieved. Teksan commissioned Robinova to review current manual part handling and tool changing processes associated with their sorting process and define the optimum automation solution.
The sorting process, which separates laser cut parts from the remainder of the original metal sheet, is the application within Teksan’s manufacturing processes which requires the greatest levels of flexibility. The robotic based solution proposed by Robinova would also need to have the capability to handle different part types as required. Integrating Stäubli’s MPS robotic tool change system was an essential part of the overall solution, as for every cycle the robot would need to change the tools when removing and sorting the parts from the sheet.
The implementation of Stäubli’s MPS robotic tool change system means that Teksan can quickly and easily change tools within the cycle, saving time and improving the robot utilization. There are however additional benefits including the fact that the potential for faults during the tool change operations have been eliminated, and with operators removed from this process, overall safety levels are enhanced. The fact that Stäubli’s tool changer technology is field proven within many demanding applications, and has a reputation for quality and reliability, reinforced the confidence Teksan has in the overall solution provided by Robinova.
Robinova provides innovative engineering services within the robotics and automation sector, to their home market in Turkey, and also to customers internationally. The company’s core skills lie in their ability to analyze production processes within many different sectors and use that information to offer customers the most efficient solution to transition from manual systems to robotic systems.
Teksan is an engineering and technology company, founded in 1994, that today manufactures market leading generator solutions. Originally starting with diesel generators, the company now produces a comprehensive range which includes natural gas and biogas generator sets. They have an annual production capacity of around 15 thousand generators, manufactured in plants located in Kocaeli and Istanbul. Teksan’s products are used in a wide range of applications across multiple sectors including construction, hospitals, rail, and retail.
